"Spring Dreamscape"

Acrylic on Canvas - 18" x16" By Mary Maki Rae - 2011(c)

A Tranquil - Dream-like bicycle ride through the Countryside - Bringing a Bouquet of Flowers from her Garden to a friend - I love these few and far between serene Spring days-!

Puts me in mind of the Interior Designer Madeleine Castaing - how she adored Nature and wanted to surround herself with Water - Sky - and Woodlands - So She set about introducing Color everywhere.
In her beloved "Chateau Leves" the ceilings were painted Blue - the floors were covered with Green Carpet - and the Walls were hung with fabric printed with Garlands of Ivy or Palm Fronds. (Her home became her "Work of Art" - her Poetry - her form of Painting and Writing.)

Nature is a constant presence at her "Chateau Leves" - The river - meadows - poplar trees - avenues - clipped boxhedges and statues festooned with Ivy.
