The Green Room

It's that time in Winter again when after a few days of dazzeling sunshine - that the gloomy gray days take over - for a while.
This is when I turn to my Garden Books to dream of a Summer Garden - or check out the new Decor Books for inspiration indoors.
For example - Carolyne Roehm's "Passion for Interiors" - Her exquisite and beautifully conceived new book - wherein she brings the "Classic/Lux Style" to new heights-!!
Following are images of "The Green Room" - (small by her standards - but one of my favorites-!)
I think it's interesting the beautiful way the cove structure has been added to the ceiling & how the striped fabric continues up to include it - creating a jewel box feeling.  If the a room were large enough - one could also build the arch around a window - then use the space on each side for secret closets. The striped fabric would - of course - disguise the doors.
I also admire how the Head & Foot Boards padded - so soft & cozy.
The Yellow fabric covering the bed & cushions are recycled from Hand-painted Silk Taffeta Curtains.  The regular rhythm of the striped wall covering is reportedly - soothing rather than busy.

Antique Swedish Clock - (was green - repainted white)

Charming Vignette of Garden flowers - botanical prints & a small dish - bearing a leaf imprint. ( an example of delightful pottery created by Josiah Wedgewood know as Drabware)

Hi Colette -
Thanks for your comment on "The Green Room" Post as well-!
(Wish I could take credit for the decor of such a splendid room -! I'm just happy when I've done a Painting that seems to reflect it somehow.)
Still thinking about the Film -
Greenaway should create an updated sequel and reveal all-!
Best - Mary
